I've had no motion sickness so I could see myself playing for an extended periods. go out of a FPS view to a flat screen but see the whole screen. A really good feature is the ability to “big screen” the display back and forth so you can access menus etc. The menu and support is great though and there are game-specific tips to tell you what you need to do. Different games have different tweak-ability as you need to fiddle with FOVs etc. So far I tried Skyrim, Oblivion, Quake2, Bioshock, they've all worked no probs. I tried standing up in Skyrim with a controller and that was bit better and you certainly get that sense of vertical scale which is great in Skyrim. The experience is more like playing with a huge (well all encompassing) monitor rather than the presence you feel in the room scale games.
You play seated with mouse and keyboard which constrains you to pretty much looking forward. However, it's made me appreciate what the full room-scale VR adds. On the whole it's worked very well for supported games. So i may edit this comment later with the correct info. But I'm not in front of my computer at the moment. PS: i might have another step in there I'm missing. I don't think i will ever play a game on my 24" 2D screen again. Press delete to enter vorpx setting ( might have to hold middle mouse to see properly), turn on room mode or cinema mode or whatever its called, then turn HT sensitivity to 0, and boom, you got yourself a giant 3D tv to play Portal 2 on! You still feel like you're in vr, cause the game is still being converted to a 3D experience, unlike with virtual desktop or BigScreen. After launching vorpx and let's say launch Portal 2 as example. So, I'm not in front of my computer, but here's generally what i do. Now i have a giant 3D tv in my office to play all my games on! BUT, then i tried Room mode/cinema mode, and it changed everything. I haven't had the best experience with head tracking in games, plus it's kind of hacky. Vorpx is great, but only for turning your monitor into a giant 3D tv.
