If you have some knowledge to share on this guitar or insight, I would sure be grateful. With these lighter gauge strings, I am thinking about installing a slightly higher saddle to see if it creates a bit more downward pressure and better tone. I just mailed away for some of the Pearse Silk Light strings to see how they sound and feel. The action is set quite low, but also the saddle is quite low. I have always used a light 10 acoustic set since repair as Mark Angus told me it was delicately braced.
I have been happy with this for many years but now the top has developed a crack in the top that runs parallel to the B string. He reshot the top with tinted lacquer to blend the fresh spruce. It sat that way until 1990 when I had Mark Angus at the Guitar Shoppe in Laguna Beach reattach the neck and splice a newly constructed section of spruce and rosette that had broken off from under the fretboard at 12 o’clock to about 2 o’clock. The only problem was she did not understand how to package it for the journey, so when she popped the trunk open the neck had broken off from the body. She knew I liked the Beatles and thought I would like to use it. I got it when I was 10 years old when my aunt from Vermont visited our family in California in 1964. To be honest I really do not know much about this guitar.
